Luxembourg is a small country landlocked by Belgium, Germany and France, hence, it is a prominent financial centre in Europe. It is a country of 523,000 populace and its major religion is Christianity.
With roots stretching back to the 10th century, Luxembourg's history is closely intertwined with that of its more powerful neighbours, especially Germany, hence, making its currency Euro (€) and many of its inhabitants trilingual in language such as French, German and luxembourgish. According to a 2018 study of Ministry of National Education, 90% of Luxembourg's population speaks French, 80% speaks English while 78% speaks German. Meanwhile, French is the main communication language followed by Luxembourgish, German, English and Portuguese. Despite its neutrality, Luxembourg was occupied by Germany during world wars after which Luxembourg abandoned its neutrality and became a front-rank enthusias for international co-operation.
It is mostly rural with dense Ardennes forest and nature parks in the north, rocky gorges of the Mullerthal region in the east and the Moselle river valley in the Southeast. It's capital, Luxembourg City, is famed for its fortified medieval old town perched on sheer cliffs.
Luxembourg's prosperity was based on steel manufacturing but with the decline in the steel industry, it diversified and is now best known for its status as the most powerful investment centre in Europe. It is the richest county in the world by GDP per Capita of around $105,000 each. This is partly due to the large number of people working in the tiny landlocked nation while living in surrounding France, Germany and Belgium.
